Our Park Now

Amigos del Parque San Miguel de Allende is an organization dedicated to the revitalization and enhancement of Parque Juarez.  In order to accomplish this enormous task, we have organized our efforts in different stages as a way to realistically achieve our goals. 

Current Initiatives

The initial project we have undertaken is the revitalization of the children’s play area.  This process begins with removing the old equipment and dead foliage, preparing a new graded surface with electrics and plumbing, and fencing-in the area. Once this work has been completed, the padded flooring and new game equipment will be installed. This equipment is the most highly rated for public spaces and is made from recycled and durable materials. The playground will be divided into age appropriate play zones and will also include equipment designed for children with disabilities. Native plants and trees will be incorporated into the design as well as solar lighting and other environmentally- friendly features.
In conjunction with the playground, we are also remodeling the public restrooms. The spaces will be modernized and expanded to provide more facilities for the entire park.

Future Initiatives

At the moment the planning for phase two is in full-swing. Phase two includes a fenced dog park with an off-leash area, agility training equipment, and drinking fountains for man and beast. 
Phase two also includes an exercise circuit, with various pieces of equipment stationed in intervals throughout the entire park. This circuit will encourage both cardio and strength training and provide all ages an opportunity to develop a fit lifestyle while enjoying the out-of-doors.
A project to diagnose diseased trees and plants as well as a devising schedule to properly maintain the healthy specimens will also be implemented during this phase.

Ongoing Responsibilities

As Amigos del Parque begins this revitalization, there will be on-going maintenance agreements with the various equipment providers, the municipality and a fund dedicated solely to the upkeep of the completed projects. Our quarterly newsletter will be the place to find out what events are going on in the park and a great source of information about what Amigos are doing at any given time.
